As you sit here reading this blog you are obviously aware that you are breathing, aren’t you?
Or are you?
On average, it’s said that we inhale and exhale around 12-20 times per minute. Over the course of a day, that adds up to around 17,000-30,000 breaths per day — or more! Those average breathing rates are for when you are at rest.
Up to 30,000 breaths per day – and how many of those do you make consciously – I would hazard a guess, not many!
So just before you start reading today’s blog I want you to take four nice deep breaths – inhale and exhale. Feel the breathing coming through the nostrils and filling the body. As you exhale, exhale the tension of the day and let it melt away in the air.
As most of you know I do love a bit of yoga. Yoga has been part of my life now for around 5 or 6 years and having become a qualified Yoga Teacher, it’s held quite a special place in my heart. Yoga for me (and I really have to try sometimes) is an hour where I escape from the world I am in at the time, to bring myself back to how my body is feeling and where my head is at.
